Any kind of work a farmer does to move the farm forward, implement practices, set up appropriate equipment, business and transition plans, increases sustainability of the farm. It takes resources to improve efficiency and quality; a farmer may need a business plan or a transition plan to help keep their business in operation and make it more sustainable for future generations. They may need proper tools or equipment for current or new on-farm enterprises. We have a lot of farms in Indiana County that are behind on methods, set up and practices. It will take dollars to get them there. Proper tools and equipment go a long way to increase safety and efficiency of the farm, both play major roles in long term sustainability of farm and farmer.
